A New Focus For a New Year

It is a new year and a new semester. And many students have their new year’s resolution and their new semester’s resolution. And I am no different. I have goals for this semester regarding classes, research, and this blog.

If you have been following this blog, you may have realized that there was a lack of posts last semester. The truth is I completely fell apart trying to keep up with new posts. One reason that I believe that happened was because I lacked a focus for the blog.  I am happy to tell you that I have discovered a focus and hope that it will enable me to write more interesting and valuable posts.

To explain my focus for this blog I must explain my current situation.

I previously wrote a post about the benefits of a small and local university.  And while at the time I thought going to a small local university was beneficial, I am beginning to notice the downfalls.  The downfalls are not a solid reason not to go to a local university; however, they should be considered.  Essentially at a local university there is a greater responsibility for a student to take control of his or her own education.  All students should take full responsibility of their education.  But I believe the rhythm of a large university can push a student further.

So the focus of the blog will be taking control of your education. Expect posts on how to expand your education beyond the classroom and on how to work on a semester project.  Projects could be geared towards research, entrepreneurship, or community service.  These projects will be the key to your education and future career.

I hope that you will enjoy the posts of 2009.  If you aren’t already a subscriber to this blog and you would like to follow along, click here to subscribe.
