Interesting reading. group of people in India realised that education is the best gift one can give the tribals who live in the remote areas. They have started one teacher schools. this organisation has started schools in 18000 areas. I am sure they will make a difference in the lives of the people in these areas soon.

Great post. People spend way too much time treating the symptoms of the problem instead of the root. If we don't re-prioritize education in the USA, we'll likely become much poorer ourselves.

I really like this blog because it similar to ours (Headless chickens) and it deals with issues that concern us university students. Not only is it informative and helpful but it is also interesting and has some great videos of classical music which is great for studying. The one post that I have focused on is the 0ne on poverty and education which was inspired by Blog Action Day.

I do agree that education is the key to preventing poverty but what is really unfortunate is the fact that not everybody has means or finances to send their children to school. It is sad to see that the youth (who is supposedly the future of the world) are the ones suffering from various pressures at home and at school with no proper support system and are still expected to do well at school. These are some of the reasons why some students run away from home with nowhere else to go which inevitably increases the poverty rates all over the world, especially in Africa. If all youngsters had access to educational resources and actually went to school and took advantage of the opportunity, this world we live in might have less poverty and we ould have a world full of educated, successful people.
